For years, Bris Avrohom of Fair Lawn has been searching for a solution to accommodate its growing community and ever-expanding activities. Its current space is bursting at the seams, and there's an urgent need for immediate expansion.
A rare opportunity presented itself, to purchase the property on the corner of Fair Lawn Ave and Saddle River Rd, conveniently located just down the road from our current Synagogue. This building provides an immediate solution to the lack of space and will serve as a community center for events, holiday celebrations, Hebrew School, teen programs and a preschool.
We are grateful to G-d and to individuals who believed in this project and helped move it forward. We are thrilled to announce that this deal that has been in the works for many months has finally been completed and on January 30th, Bris Avrohom of Fair Lawn closed on the property. Mazal Tov to every single one of us!
Now the real work begins!
This 30,000 sq. ft building is now called the Jewish Education Center, (JEC) with an already active preschool, renamed the Alef Preschool, a huge social hall to host events and holiday programs for up to 300 people, and plans to create a contemporary Teen lounge as well as spacious classrooms to more than double Hebrew School capacity and other educational classes and programs.
Not only will this property now remain a part of the Jewish communal infrastructure, but it will also serve as a center for Jewish education, which will have an impact on Jewish awareness and strengthen Jewish identity for generations to come. Bris Avrohom of Fair Lawn has taken a huge step in sustaining and growing Jewish life not only for its community but in the entire area.
The Jewish Education Center is already open and fully operational.
On day one, Bris Avrohom of Fair Lawn has launched Alef Preschool of Fair Lawn, www.AlefSchool.com for ages 2-5. With more than 40 children enrolled and with its warm and dedicated staff and directorship, this previously hidden gem will now be a space for all young families and children to get an early start in Jewish education and awareness.
Our major upcoming events are already planned to be held at the Jewish Education Center. The kick off inaugural event is our annual Moms and Kids Hamantashen Bake on March 9th, followed by Purim Celebrations on March 13 for adults and 14 for families with children, as well as a children's Model Matzah bakery which will be open to the entire community, date to be announced soon.

Our Current Planned Property
As you may be aware, we have been working on approval for a major expansion of our current Synagogue which we recently received the town's approval for.
However, now that this new opportunity has come up, the expansion of our current Synagogue will be on pause until we finalize the purchase and settle into the new building.
The town's approvals we received for the expansion of our Synagogue still stand, and we plan to proceed with that project in the near future.
Since our community needs an immediate solution to our lack of space, this purchase will give us the space we need immediately and will also serve as our synagogue during the construction phase.
Eventually, the needs of our community will be met with these two properties—one dedicated to community life, events, and education, while the other serves as a beautifully expanded synagogue and place for services.
